… and it is just 3 minutes away from the hotel !!

A recent vote by frequent travellers on the renowned travel website TripAdvisor ranked the Sillon beach of Saint-Malo the most beautiful beach in France. The beach was ranked in 3rd place in 2016 and will fight to keep it’s star ranking next year.

The Sillon beach (plage du Sillon in French, pictured above), is a grand length of 3 km. Starting at the “Intra-Muros” (the name given to the walled city), the beach runs up to the Rochebonne point (pointe de Rochebonne).  What makes the beach so wonderful, you ask? The beach is extremely wide and offers nothing but soft, blond sand for miles. The waters always boast a blue and green colour, even when it rains. Best of all: from time to time, it is possible to see dolphins!

As the beach is just a three minute walk away from our hotel, why not take a 30 minute stroll along the soft sands heading towards the old city? During this walk one will pass the luxurious spa hotel Thermes Marins and will be able to catch a glimpse of Saint-Malo’s history from afar: the Fort National, the Grand and Petit Bé, and the Saint Vincent cathedral to name but a few of Saint-Malo’s historic attractions. When the tide is out, it is possible to walk across the beach to reach the fortresses of the sea!
